Remember, it’s not about the destination, but the journey!

What led Captain Will into the fishing guide profession is his deep passion for the outdoors. “I’ve got the best office in the world”, says Captain Will. Your charter will not only target “world class fishing” but you will have a front row seat to some of the most scenic flora and fauna in the world. From wading birds, manatees, birds of prey, dolphin and more; the wildlife encounters are unparalleled. Here are a few of the premier fishing destinations offered by Grassroots Guide Service and Captain Will:

Indian River Juvenile Tarpon

Indian River Juvenile Tarpon

Indian River

The Indian River is a 121-mile long brackish salty lagoon. It is part of the Indian River Lagoon system, which is also part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. It was originally named Rio de Ais after the Ais Indian tribe, who lived along the east coast of Florida, but was later given its current name.

The Indian River extends southward from the Ponce de Leon inlet in New Smyrna Beach in Volusia County southward along the western shore of Merritt Island.

“My favorite thing about exploring the Indian River is the magnitude of options for fishing”, says Captain Will. “No matter the weather, season or client’s skill level there's always fish worth targeting in the Indian River Lagoon.”

Targeted species of fish include: Trout, Redfish, Tarpon, Black Drum and more! Call or text Captain Will today @ 407/620-5263 or drop him an email at GrassrootsGuideService@gmail.com

Ponce Inlet / Near Shore / Off the Beach

Ponce Inlet separates New Smyrna Beach on the South end and the greater Daytona Beach area to the North. Unlike Port Canaveral, it lacks the large cruise ship and occasional nuclear submarine boat traffic.

The deep cuts, bars, rock jetties and tidal waters make Ponce Inlet ideal for pelagic species and a multitude of other types of fishing. During certain times of the year, the spawning redfish population, mullet runs and tarpon migration can make the inlet, near shore and beach fishing on Florida’s East Coast the epicenter of East Coast game fishing.

Targeted fish include giant tarpon following the mullet run in the fall, massive redfish schools during their spawning season, large sharks year-round with additional targeted species including tripletail, cobia and king fish!

Louisiana Red Fish Season

Looking for a “once in a lifetime” trip to target monster redfish? Then contact Captain Wolfson about his seasonal trips to the famous Louisiana Marsh targeting giant redfish and black drum.

The Louisiana Delta has some of the BEST red fishing in the world! This maze of marshland and grass spans a vast area covered by only a few inches of water in some places. Typically targeting the Fall season, Captain Will posts up from from October to December when millions of Red Fish and Black Drum call the Louisiana delta home. Looking to catch a “personal best” on fly or catch a monster 40 pounder on spinning tackle, or “double up” in a school of massive bull reds - all scenarios are real possibilities! Shots of fish in the 20-30 lb. range are a legitimate expectation each day, with the very real possibility of catching fish in the 40 lb. class.
